HaulerPro vs

HaulerPro vs Axon Software

Axon Software has been in the trucking industry since 1982. HaulerPro launched to serve independent carriers and small fleets who need modern, cloud-native tools without a six-figure implementation. If you are deciding between the two, this page gives you a straight comparison on dispatch, documents, invoicing, IFTA, driver pay, and pricing.

Axon Software is one of the longest-standing names in trucking technology. It ships full integrated accounting alongside dispatch, handles specialty hauling workflows, and targets carriers scaling past 15 trucks and into the mid-market. HaulerPro is built for the other end of that spectrum: independent carriers and small fleets across reefer, dry van, flatbed, hotshot, box truck, and LTL who need a clean, fast, cloud-native system they can run themselves. Both products are serious tools. The honest answer is that they fit different operations.

Dispatch

Axon markets dispatch alongside a full accounting suite, which means the two are tightly coupled. For carriers who want accounting and dispatch in one system, that integration is a genuine asset. For carriers who want to pick up and dispatch a load without touching an accounting workflow, the weight of that integration can add friction.

HaulerPro is built around a single-screen dispatch workflow. You create a load, assign a driver, and the driver gets a text notification when the load lands on their phone. Drivers update load status manually from the driver app. Those updates flow to dispatch and show on the load record. No GPS hardware, no fleet telematics purchase required, just a driver tapping a status when something changes.

HaulerPro also integrates with 123Loadboard and FreightLink so carriers can search available loads from inside the app. Both are display-only load searches. A separate 123Loadboard subscription is required to use that integration.

Documents

Axon includes a mobile companion app (Axon Truck Link) for document capture alongside its core desktop or web platform. The full document management workflow is part of the integrated system.

In HaulerPro, a driver opens the app, picks the load they are working, and scans a BOL, rate confirmation, or fuel receipt directly to that load record. There is no global inbox and no background routing. The document lands on the load the driver selected. When that load is ready to invoice, the POD auto-attaches to the invoice. Rate confirmations and other delivery documents do not auto-attach to the invoice; they sit on the load record where the driver scanned them.

Invoicing

Axon ships full integrated accounts receivable and accounts payable alongside invoicing. If your operation needs a general ledger, balance sheets, income statements, and payroll all living in the same system as your dispatch, Axon was built for that. User reviews note that some carriers run Axon as a complete replacement for external accounting software.

HaulerPro takes a narrower approach. When a load is marked delivered, you generate an invoice in one click and the POD attaches automatically. If you factor, you can submit invoices to a factoring partner directly from HaulerPro. HaulerPro does not ship a full general ledger or built-in payroll. Carriers who need that depth will want to weigh Axon's accounting integration seriously.

IFTA

Axon offers IFTA report generation and integrates with PC*MILER for mileage data. Per sourced user reviews, the combination handles per-jurisdiction calculations and generates report output at quarter-end. Axon has positioned IFTA as an automated quarterly workflow inside the platform.

HaulerPro handles IFTA mileage differently. Per-jurisdiction miles are captured automatically from each dispatched load's route using OSRM routing with polygon intersection across the 48 contiguous states. At the end of the quarter, you pull an ifta_miles.csv from the quarterly panel and hand it to your accountant or use it as input when completing the return yourself. HaulerPro does not prepare or file the quarterly return. Fuel receipts are scanned and stored on the load record but are not auto-attributed to a jurisdiction. Your accountant reconciles fuel against the mileage export at filing time. For a plain-language breakdown of where carriers typically go wrong, see our guide on common IFTA mistakes.

If you haul across multiple states and want the miles already sorted by jurisdiction before your accountant touches the file, HaulerPro's automated mileage capture handles that across the 48 contiguous states. The fuel reconciliation piece still requires your input.

Driver Pay and Settlements

Axon ships integrated driver payroll with multiple pay structures: per mile, per hour, percentage of load, per ton, per pallet, and mixed structures. Direct deposit is supported. For carriers running payroll inside the same system as their dispatch and accounting, that is a meaningful convenience.

HaulerPro generates driver settlement statements from the loads and time entries already in the system. Five pay bases are available per driver: percentage of load, flat per load, per mile, per day, and per hour. Per-settlement deductions are supported. You add labeled deduction lines (fuel advance, escrow, insurance, chargeback) and the statement shows gross pay, total deductions, and net pay. Net pay can be negative and is shown as the driver owing the company. Each settlement is an immutable snapshot: once generated, line items do not change if underlying loads are later edited. Double-pay protection prevents a load or date from being settled twice. Drivers see their own statements in a read-only view inside the driver app.

HaulerPro does not generate payroll checks or handle direct deposit. Settlements go out as statements. If you run payroll through a separate processor, HaulerPro's settlement export gives you the numbers to hand off.

Fleet and Maintenance

Axon handles specialty hauling workflows including oilfield ticket management, dump and aggregate ticketing, and heavy haul. User reviews describe carriers processing thousands of tickets per week through Axon's ticket management system. If your operation runs specialized equipment in those niches, Axon has purpose-built features for it.

HaulerPro includes an optional fleet inventory for trucks and trailers. Managers add, edit, retire, or import vehicles via CSV. When your company has vehicles in inventory, a load can reference a specific truck and trailer. HaulerPro also ships a maintenance tracker: per-vehicle service history with service type, date, odometer, cost, and vendor. It computes next-due dates from service intervals in months and miles and shows in-app due-soon and overdue reminders per vehicle and fleet-wide. Reminders appear inside the app only. No external maintenance alerts are sent by email, SMS, or push notification.

Pricing

Axon does not publish pricing on their marketing site. User reviews on Capterra and G2 commonly characterize Axon as on the higher end of the market, but no specific figures are publicly disclosed. You will need to contact their sales team for a quote.

HaulerPro publishes pricing directly. Plans start at $59/month for 1 to 2 users, with each added user at $29/month. The Starter plan is $95/month for up to 5 users. Growth covers 11 to 15 users at $250/month. Pricing is per user, not per truck. Every login counts as a user: managers, dispatchers, and drivers all have their own role-specific login. There is a 14-day free trial with no credit card required.

For context: a 5-user team (one owner-dispatcher and four drivers with logins) pays $95/month on Starter. A 10-user team pays $240/month. If your drivers do not need app access or you run dispatch without individual driver logins, the user count stays lower and so does the bill.

Support

Axon ships in-house phone and email support. Capterra user reviews rate Axon's customer service as a consistent strength, and the company has been in the market since 1982 with a trained support staff to match. Onboarding includes training.

HaulerPro offers founder-led support from someone who built the software around how carriers actually work. There is no implementation consultant and no onboarding fee. The 14-day trial gives you access to the full product from day one.

When Axon Fits Better
